The project of the private clinic is to purchase a PET scanner for imaging for the amount of BGN 7 million.
It is important to note that currently there are only two PET scanners in the country (in Varna and in Sofia), which are insufficient for the patients, whence for such a medical examination the patients have to wait more than three months. According to the International medical standards for every 500 000 inhabitants must be provided at least one PET scanner, i.e. in Bulgaria they must be 15, but not 2.
Project implementation will allow to increase the possibility of early diagnosis of cancer and to take timely measures to treat patients across the country.
