The city is located almost equidistant from the largest Bulgarian cities (Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas). The main road connecting eastern and western Bulgaria (Sofia – Varna), as well as the ninth pan-European corridor (Central Europe and Asia Minor, Ruse – Kapitan Andreevo) pass through the city.
